Private tutor in Port Jefferson, NY
University of Texas - Austin - BA, Anthropology
I grew up on Long Island and received my bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where I majored in Physical Anthropology and minored in Mathematics. My teaching experience has been varied. I tutored math for several years with a variety of university students, both those majoring in math and others with a wide range of needs. I also worked extensively with high school and middle school students on standardized exam prep. And for variety, I spent a year teaching English at an elementary school in Busan, Korea - an unforgettable experience that was worth traveling around the world for. Teaching English is just as inspiring to me as math, and something I value highly. I am equally passionate about teaching writing - English grammar, mechanics, and composition. But what I value most is education itself. I love tutoring because I have the chance to give each student more than what is in the curriculum. My goal is to tailor the lessons to make them interesting to the individual. I want to create that spark that leads to learning. In my free time I enjoy cooking, reading, playing board games, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and lifting weights.
